Fashion In The 90’s
In
the 1930’s, fashion mostly comprised of spectacular geometric lines inspired by
elegant moments in the deco’s art. Designers emphasized the feminine form in
the 1930’s and gave soft lines to women dresses.
However, if we have a look at
1940’s trends, because of the limitations of the war, trends changed and
women’s clothing became more masculine.
As the world went through the wounds of the
war, Christian Dior was creating a silhouette that elicited a thin waist and
feminism. In the 1950’s trends were determined by Dior's new-look style.
All Hollywood stars, especially Marilyn Monroe, embraced this new trend.
Looking
from the past to the present, I think the 1990’s were also one of the most
remarkable times in fashion world. Casual style was greatly affected by
minimalism and grunge. We see the
reflections of the 80’s at the beginning of the 90’s-tights, shoulder pads,
large t-shirts and neon colours were indispensable.
As
we can see in today's fashion, it is like a reflection and combination of the
past. We see fashion is like a circle where designers travel back and combine
the old fashion with new creative ideas. It
looks like we will continue traveling in the fashion circle in the forthcoming
years.
